Early Denson, Jr. was born in Dawson, Georgia, to the late Early Denson, Sr. and Mattie Bell Hicks Denson. He received his early education in Gadsden County, Florida, and graduated from Greensboro High School.
In 1973, Early answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. His years of service took him across the world, including an assignment in Germany where his beloved son, Anthony, was born. After leaving active duty, he continued serving others as a ROTC instructor at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, and later through his work in law enforcement.
Early was a believer in Jesus Christ and recently united with Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, where he found encouragement and fellowship.
In his leisure time, Early enjoyed sports. He especially loved cheering on the Florida State Seminoles, and game days were always a highlight for him.
He was a man of quiet strength who faced many health challenges with courage and faith. On Saturday, August 30, after a long fight, he heard the gentle whisper of the Lord, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Early Sr. and Mattie Bell; his brothers, Clifford Jackson and Early Denson; and his sisters, Vera Bailey, Delores Copeland, and Gladys Denson.
Cherishing his memory are his devoted son, Anthony Denson; his sisters, Ruby Howard (George), Clara Denson (Willie Richardson), and Dorothy Porter (Alfred). He is also remembered with love by a special and dedicated nephew and caregiver, Victor Maxwell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Early’s life reminds us that to everything there is a season. His season was filled with service, faith, family love, and joyful moments. His rest is well deserved, and his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A viewing for Early will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bradwell Mortuary, Historic District, Quincy, FL 32351. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Miracle Temple Church of God, 9685 Blue Star Hwy, Quincy, FL 32352.
