Edna Brantley Tessein, 100 of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Monday, March 19, 2018. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A funeral service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Tallahassee on Monday, March 26. The family will be available for visitation at Bethel prior to the funeral at 10:15 am with the service following at 11:00 am. The Reverend Ralph Wrightstone will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Allbritton, Scott Allbritton, Allen Evans, John Evans, Jim Hamilton, and Don Singletary. A memorial service will also be held at Perdido Bay United Methodist Church in Pensacola on Wednesday, March 28, at 11:00 am. Culley Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
Edna was born in Bristol, Florida on October 24, 1917 to Mariam Nall Brantley and Thomas Francis Brantley. She graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee and attended Lively Technical School and Florida State College for Women. She retired as an Administrative Assistant in The Department of Geology at Florida State University. She was an avid FSU football fan. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, music, and vacationing at the family beach house. She was a faithful servant of God and enjoyed Bible study and her memberships at Bethel United Methodist Church, Tallahassee and later in life, Perdido Bay United Methodist Church in Pensacola. She was full of joy, strength, determination, energy, and interest in life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a loving and generous heart.
Edna was pre-deceased by her husband of 47 years, John Alois Tessein. She is survived by her daughters, Mariam Tessein Evans (Allen), Jean Tessein Hamilton (Jim), grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton, Jean Evans Marcellino (Tom), John Allen Evans (Stefanie), her great-grandchildren, Jenna Michaelyn Ix, Alyssa Jean Ix, Christian Allen Marcellino, Jared Thomas Marcellino, Isabella Faith Maltese, Arianna Mariam Marcellino, and nieces Doris Chandler, Edith Allbritton and Ruth Shields.
