Betty was a resident of Quincy, Florida, graduating from Gadsden High School and attending Florida State University in Tallahassee. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Quincy. Betty worked for Citizen’s Bank and Trust Company in Quincy, where she retired after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1973. During the latter part of her life, Betty was a resident of Consulate Healthcare’s long term care facility in Tallahassee, where she served several terms as resident council president. Betty was a passionate animal lover who had many canine companions throughout her life. She was an avid fan of FSU sports, especially football.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Jester; and her parents, Elbert and Ruby Sowell.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Beaman and her husband Tommy Beaman of Tallahassee; her son, Clay Jester and his wife Jean Jester of Tallahassee; three grandchildren, Parker Beaman, Logan Jester, and Roxanne Jester, all of Tallahassee; and her sister-in-law, Celia Creamer and her husband Billy Creamer of Tallahassee. Betty was also blessed with many relationships she developed with caregivers and residents that she befriended at Consulate Healthcare.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 15th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm a Culley’s MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, January 16th at 3:30 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 10 West King Street, Quincy, FL.
