Elizabeth Purvis O’Hara died in Tallahassee, Florida on January 4, 2019. Born in Columbus, Ohio on April 12, 1944 and raised in Buffalo, New York, Elizabeth’s parents were Charles William Purvis and Regina Borowski Purvis. She is predeceased by her loving parents and her second child, Kathleen O’Hara Ewald. Elizabeth will be missed and remembered by her daughter Erin O’Hara O’Connor, brother John Purvis, grandsons Kenneth Gordon and Christopher Ewald, son-in-law Michael O’Connor, sister-in-law Sherrie Purvis, and cousins Diana Papaj, Terri Bahne, Adam Papaj, and their families.
Elizabeth moved to Tallahassee in October 2018 but lived most of her life in the Buffalo area. A graduate of Kenmore West High School and Bryant and Stratton College, she pursued a career as a bookkeeper/accountant in both the private and public sectors, and retired in 2008. Elizabeth loved cooking, gardening, exploring nature, puzzles, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and quiet meditation.
A memorial gathering and service will be held at D. Lawrence Ginnane Funeral Home in Buffalo, NY on Sunday, January 20 at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Bend Hospice, Inc., Tallahassee FL.
