She was born in Perry, Florida, on October 14, 1924. Eloise met her husband, George, in 1942 and, after a 3-month courtship, they eloped. He then left at once for overseas duty, returning 33 months later. They were married 58 years, ending with his death in 2000. Eloise retired from the Department of Highway Safety in 1990 after 31 years. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. She loved her Immanuel Church family and even after becoming paralyzed in 2009, she tried to attend church as much as possible. She was a lesson in grace and dignity under bad circumstances.
