

Miss Kubik was a third grade teacher at Florida State University School at Southwood.
She was born in Tallahassee and graduated from Maclay School in 1999. She obtained a bachelors’ degree in elementary education from FSU in 2003 and began her teaching career at Eccleston Elementary School in Orlando. She returned to Tallahassee three years ago to teach and work on her Master’s degree in public administration at FSU.
She was passionate about teaching and her interest in public administration was driven by her belief in the importance of teachers being valued in society for the work they do. She was a loyal fan of FSU football, a member of Phi Mu Sorority and The Junior League of Tallahassee and a lay leader at Good Sheppard Catholic Church.
Miss Kubik was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Kubik. Survivors include her mother, Patricia Riste Gleason of Tallahassee; her brother Jonathan Kubik, a student at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton; grandparents Dr. Peter Gleason and Vera Gleason of Charlotte, N.C. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be at Culley’s Timberlane Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Thomasville Road at 11 a.m. Friday. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the FSU Foundation or the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
