Ernie was born July 22, 1942 in Cheverly, Maryland to the late Ruth Funk Ulrich and Ernest Oliver Ulrich II. He grew up in Maryland and relocated to Florida with his parents and own family in 1970. He later moved to Tallahassee where he eventually retired from the State of Florida as an investigator of unlicensed/unauthorized entities.
Ernie was a man with a quick smile and silly jokes that captivated the hearts of everyone who knew him. He loved everybody and was quick to find the good in people and the silver lining in all situations.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and his son, Ernest Oliver Ulrich IV, and two grandchildren. Those left to mourn him include his significant other, Mary Ulrich, and her children Rhonda Barrett and Robert Paiano, and daughters Ruth Gordon (L.T.) and Bonnie Brown (Arthur) along with their mother Patricia Poulson. He is also survived by his sister Joanne Motz (Don) . Grandchildren include Chris Hodges, Chealsie Paiano, Heather Hodges, Keven Ulrich, Kristine Brown, Aaron Brown, Brynna Paiano and his special little four year old magician-in-training Christian Hodges. He also leaves many personal and professional friends who will miss his happy smile and wealth of knowledge.
Our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the IICU at Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center and the staff of Big Bend Hospice.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 4, at 10 a.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberlane Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in his name to Big Bend Hospice or the charity of their choice.
Rest peacefully our precious Angel. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
