After a long life, well lived, Evelyn Lorraine (Nissen) Luebbers slipped away peacefully on the evening of June 29, 2018. She was 92 and in good health until the end. Evelyn was born in Page, Nebraska, to Peter and Alma (Fuelberth) Nissen as the youngest of 6 children. She is survived by her sister Laverne, who is now 98.
Evelyn married George M. Luebbers on November 24, 1944 in Osmond, Nebraska. When George completed his service in the US Navy, they returned to a farm near Osmond and raised a family of 10 children. In 1970, the family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri and two years later to Tallahassee, Florida where Evelyn worked as the Night Registrar for Lively Vocational Technical Community College until her retirement in 1990. Over the years, Evelyn traveled extensively across the United States and visited Europe, Russia and the Panama Canal. Her last years were spent quietly in Aurora, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband George and three children Monica, George Jr., and Dennis. The remaining children, Cheri, Rick, Bob, Vonnie, Jan, Doug, LuAnn, Marty and Terry, along with 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, will miss her quick wit, bright eyes and easy smile.
She will be interred next to George in Tallahassee.
