Frances Graves Story 1927 - 2013
Frances Graves Story went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wedneday, May 22, 2013, at the Seven Hills Health and Rehab Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
She was born on June 22, 1927, in Reno, Georgia, to the late David and Offie Lee Byard Graves.
Frances was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, her church, her family and her many friends. She was a devoted housewife, mother and grandmother. She loved teaching the 8 year-old girls Sunday School class at Southside Baptist Church; teaching VBS and visiting for her Sunday School bus route bringing children to church. Also, she loved crocheting and sewing; reading; and listening to the Gaither Homecoming Friends videos. She loved to sing and whistle. Even through her illness, she could still remember the old hymns she loved so much.
She leaves behind, to carry on her legacy of faith and love, her devoted husband of 65 years, Willie Izell Story of Monticello, FL; daughter, Frances Buckner of Monticello, FL; grandchildren, Maryanne Nichols (Ryan) of Monticello, FL and Steven Buckner (Cierra) of Tallahassee, FL; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Archer and Jasper Nichols; sisters, Lois Whittington of Tallahassee, FL and Ethel Connell of Longwood, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews and many good friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Willie Jr.; sister, Catherine Spence; and her brothers, Herbert, Bill, Clifford, Charlie, Ross and Roscoe Graves.
Her home-going celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25th at Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Culley's Riggins Road Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 2351 Mahan Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32305; Lighthouse Children's Home, 7771 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32309; or Covenant Hospice, Capital Circle NE, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
A special thanks to Seven Hills staff; Covenant Hospice staff; and the Senior Adults of Immanuel for their loving care and continuous prayers during her illness.

Doodle, I was so sorry to hear about your mom, but we know she is in a better place. I know you will miss her a lot but you will always have the memories and pictures. I am sorry that I missed the funeral but had all intentions in going until I fell and hurt myself. So sorry. We love you, Izell and the whole family.

Doodle, (forgive me, but I will always think of you as Doodle!)I am so sorry for the loss of your mother and for Izell losing his dear companion. Frances was always a ray of sunshine and so very cheerful!! She actually was the primary mother figure to my daughter, Brenda Spence(Brenda Tadlock now) when I worked. Most everyone thought Brenda was Frances's own child because they both had that beautiful auburn hair. Frances and I use to tease each other about how much we weighed back then. It seems like (because of her quick wit) that she good naturedly always somehow got the better of me. She loved getting out early in the morning and picking beans, peas, or whatever happened to be growing in our garden at the time. Izell and Frances were very generous by allowing us park our mobile home on their property off Springhill Road in Tallahassee. She and Izell helped us so much and I will always be grateful to them. You, on the other hand, Miss Doodle were always mischievious and getting into things! There was a lot of love in the Story home and I will always remember their generosity at a time when we really needed their help. The pictures on this site are beautiful especially the ones showing her hands that are worn with wrinkles from helping others, comforting others, and holding others during their grief and joys. I loved your mom and still love you and Izell very much. The Story family really enriched my life as I am sure it has so many others! When I picture your mom, I still see her smiling broadly and popping that gum at times. Much love to you and Izell!

Frances, your mother was a blessing to many people and she never hid her light under a basket. May she receive many bottles of lotion in Heaven.
