Frances Graves Story went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wedneday, May 22, 2013, at the Seven Hills Health and Rehab Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
She was born on June 22, 1927, in Reno, Georgia, to the late David and Offie Lee Byard Graves.
Frances was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, her church, her family and her many friends. She was a devoted housewife, mother and grandmother. She loved teaching the 8 year-old girls Sunday School class at Southside Baptist Church; teaching VBS and visiting for her Sunday School bus route bringing children to church. Also, she loved crocheting and sewing; reading; and listening to the Gaither Homecoming Friends videos. She loved to sing and whistle. Even through her illness, she could still remember the old hymns she loved so much.
She leaves behind, to carry on her legacy of faith and love, her devoted husband of 65 years, Willie Izell Story of Monticello, FL; daughter, Frances Buckner of Monticello, FL; grandchildren, Maryanne Nichols (Ryan) of Monticello, FL and Steven Buckner (Cierra) of Tallahassee, FL; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Archer and Jasper Nichols; sisters, Lois Whittington of Tallahassee, FL and Ethel Connell of Longwood, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews and many good friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Willie Jr.; sister, Catherine Spence; and her brothers, Herbert, Bill, Clifford, Charlie, Ross and Roscoe Graves.
Her home-going celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25th at Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Culley's Riggins Road Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 2351 Mahan Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32305; Lighthouse Children's Home, 7771 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32309; or Covenant Hospice, Capital Circle NE, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
