Freddie Cleveland Helms, 89 of Tallahassee, died December 16, 2013 in Rome, GA after a brief illness. Freddie was born October 14, 1924 in Ashford, AL to Wiley Jack and Mamie Lillian (White) Helms and moved to Tallahassee in 1947. Freddie is a WWII Navy Veteran and member of North Florida Baptist Church.Freddie was a salesman for most of his career having worked for Sherwin-Williams paint Co., Binks Manufacturing and Grayco, Inc. from which he retired having been named top salesman for many years. He was united in marriage in 1947 to his wife, Nell who resides in Rome, GA. Freddie is also survived by his daughters, Debra Lyons and Beverly (Ron) Alphin; his sisters, Mary Slappey, Ruth Cooper, Wylene (Howard) Winters, Bobbie (Tom)Adderhold and Pat (Deryle Hinson) Gunter; his brothers, Cliff (Hattie) Helms, Wiley Jack (Emma) Helms and Benny (Joann) Helms.He is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seventeen nieces and nephews and a host of cousins. Friends will be received Friday from 2-3pm at the Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home, Timberlane Chapel where funeral services will be held that day at 3 pm. Interment will take place in Culley's Meadowwood Memorial Park.
