Fredrick Clingenpeel, 88, born in Southern West Virginia, died on January 17, 2014, in Tallahassee, FL.
He served in World War II as an Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne 508 Regiment. After his service he returned to West Virginia where he worked as a coal miner/supervisor for 35 years. He retired from the coal mines and moved to Tallahassee in 1991, where he enjoyed his favorite pastime-golf. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Cortelessi Clingenpeel.
He is survived by his daughter Theresa Croteau (Jim); granddaughters Lisa Richardson and Mendy Walton (Barry); and great grandchildren Andrew and Emily; step grandchildren Michele Handy (Bert), Brien Croteau (Jennifer), Jenny Black (Brian); step great granddaughters Dealyn and Veronica; brother James Clingenpeel (Ruby); along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A small family memorial is planned.
