I did not know about Gary's passing until now.  He was of great comfort to me during one of life's biggest challenges.  He will be missed by many.

Gary and I have been friends since high school. Satellite High, class of 1966. We talked at least once a month. I will miss him greatly.

Mr. Henry I've had the pleasure of knowing you for over 13 years. Every month stopping by to detail your truck. I will miss the talks, seeing you work around your home and just busy doing whatever you wanted to do. You knew my kids on first name basis and watched them grow over the years. I know that you're in a better place now, no more pain, no more suffering just sit back and smell the flowers. At least I had one last time to clean your truck just the way you like it not knowing that would be the last time. Rest in peace my friend. 

I knew Gary at the Environmental Management Office of the Florida Department of Transportation. Gary was one of the older, wiser, funnier, positive folks who was an absolute pleasure to be around. He guided us new folks on our journey, stopping in from time to time after his retirement to check on things and pass along his infectious smiles. Gary will be greatly missed and I’m lucky to have been able to know him, even if it was brief. 

When I took over the post of Florida Wildflower Foundation executive director from Gary in February 2008, Gary let me make it my own. He offered advice when I asked for it then stood back patiently and quietly, letting me make and learn from my goofs and cheering my successes. I will never forget his kindness, generosity and love for the Florida Wildflower Foundation and its mission.

Gary was good.  He was strong and smart, and genuinely honorable, generous, and kind.  Gary was like a big brother, always looking out for me and scolding me when I needed it.   I learned and grew by watching how Gary treated his friends and family.  Thirty years of friendship with Gary made me a better man, son, husband, and father.  

Gary is on the road to a new place. I am sure he is stopping to identify the wildflowers along the way.
