Genie grew up in Tallahassee and was a graduate of Leon High School. She was a devoted
mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Always quick to help those in need,
especially her family. She previously lived in Port St Joe, FL where she had her own business
as a talented beautician for many years.
Survivors include her son Blane J. Cox and wife Lisa. Two grandsons Chase Cox and wife
Heather of Lebanon Ohio. Cory Cox of Austin, Texas. Three great grandsons Gage Hevener,
Hunter Hevener and Cooper Cox. Nieces Ann Robinson and Marsha Murray Johnson. Dear
friend Vergie Anderson.
She is predeceased by her parents Decator Green Harvell and Fannie Eliza Harvell, husband
James A. (Jim) Cox, son, James A. (Jimmy) Cox, Jr., granddaughter, Jamalyn Hevener Smith
and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on January 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM EST at Oakland Cemetery, Tallahassee, FL, to celebrate her reunion with family in heaven.
