George F Burton

George Francis Burton, Jr., 73 of Tallahassee, FL, passed away July 14, 2020 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Nassawadox, N. Hampton County, VA on May 5th, 1947 to George F. Burton, Sr and Oneita W. Burton. George was married for over 25 years to Laloni D. “Lonnie” Burton, who was devoted to his care during his lengthy illness.

George followed in his father’s footsteps and worked many years in well-known grocery store chains as a butcher, then changing careers to becoming a Mortgage Broker. He was co-founder and co-owner of Burton & Burton Mortgage Company of Tallahasse, and served on the Board of Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers (FAMB).

George was preceded in death by his father, George F. Burton, Sr, in November 1994. He is survived by his wife, Laloni “Lonnie”, his mother Oneita Burton, Cocoa; sons Ken Burton, Tallahassee; George F. Burton, III (Jennifer), Navarre; grandsons Joshua Burton and Zachary Burton, granddaughter Tara Ellinor, all of Tallahassee; brother Anthony “Andy” Burton (Debi), sisters Candace “Candy” Kuehner (Carl); Faith Neumann (Jim) all of Cocoa, many nieces and nephews, and his dog Missy, who was his faithful companion and never left his side.

There are no scheduled services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Covenant Care Hospice of Tallahassee through their website choosecovenant.org, or their address 1921 Capital Cir NE, Tallahassee, FL
