Gertie L. Smith, 72, of Woodville died Tuesday (6/30) at her home with her family at her side. A native of Ft. Myers, FL, she has lived in the Woodville area all her life. Gertie was a Baptist and had been well known in the area as the “Avon Lady” having won many awards and being recognized many times for her sales. She loved flowers and would spend much of her time tending to them. She also was particularly attentive to her dogs.
Preceded in death by three sons: Robert David Sims, Richard Blain Sims, Steven Douglas Sims; she is survived by her husband: Runt; son: Marty (Linda) of Woodville; daughters: Suzanne Marie Sims of Crawfordville, Brenda Gail Sims of Australia; brother: Charles Payne of Tallahassee; three grandchildren: Sandy Andrews, Ricky Andrews, Andria Sims, Stacey Immel, Christin Immel; and six great-grandchildren.
