Harvey F. Levine

Services for him will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 3. Rabbi Loring J. Frank of All Peoples Synagogue of South Florida and Rev. Jeff C. Summers of Maranatha Baptist Church of Plains, Ga., will be officiating.

Mr. Levine was born in Boston, MA, on March 17, 1942. He was a graduate of Boston University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1964, a Master of Education degree in 1965, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Elementary Education in 1969. Also in 1969, he married Joan Dale Seglin of Fall River, MA. They moved to Florida in 1971. Before coming to Tallahassee, he lived in Palm Beach Gardens and Davie. In 1977, he received his Doctor of Education, Ed.D, from Boston University. Mr. Levine taught school in Massachusetts and Florida. Most recently, he taught English at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale. For his efforts, he received the Adjunct Professor of the Year award in 2002. For a time, he owned and operated an educational software business, Basic Skills Software.

Mr. Levine was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna Levine.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his brother, Dana Richard Levine and his wife, Marion, of Concord, MA; his daughter, Bonnie K. Levine-Berggren and her husband, Jason, of Tallahassee; his grandchildren, Joshua L. Berggren and Eva R. Berggren of Tallahassee; his niece, Lisa A. Giddings and her husband, Bob, of Storrs, CT, and his nephew, Kenneth S. Levine and his wife, Davi, and son, Seth, of Melrose, MA.
