

Henry was born December 18, 1940 in Cottondale, Florida to the late Earl Moses Cotton Sr. and the late Ethelandia Merchant Cotton. Henry graduated from Barber College in 1958 and was a former Sergeant with the Tallahassee Police Department where he served from 1963 to 1982, before retiring to invest in real estate. He loved gardening and fishing on Lake Jackson where he resided with his loving wife Alice. Henry enjoyed fixing things, helping his neighbors, flying small aircrafts, and riding his tractor and motorcycles. He played the guitar, sang gospel music, and co-hosted a gospel music radio show.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jackson Cotton; two brothers, Earl Moses Cotton Jr. and Roy Cecil Cotton, Sr.; and his three sisters, Marie Hightower, Margie Gainey, and Gwen Haney; and step-grandson, Zane Cole Lucas.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Tia Cotton Griffiss (John); grandsons, Jayden Cotton Griffiss and Jace Henry Griffiss; step-daughter, Sheila Rae Lawson; step-grandson, Richard Clayton O’Connor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 700 Timberlane Road, 2:00 to 3:30 with the funeral service imediately following.
