September 15, 1935 – September 23, 2020
Herb Gold, 85, of Tallahassee, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Irene and Julius Gold.
He attended Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn, and later served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. While serving, he visited many European countries. The adventures and friendships made during that time were a cherished memory. In the Eighties, after working at his New York antique store, he moved to Vermont, living at his “Tranquility” farm, and later in Brattleboro, where he met the love of his life.
Herb was very proud of his Brooklyn origins, and of his time in Manhattan living in a penthouse apartment close to Columbus Circle. He enjoyed watching his Yankees, being a lifelong fan, as well as a good tennis match. He always fondly remembered his dogs Ambar and Indigo Rose.
Herb will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Elvie Rubio, his son, Daniel Gold (Andra Vilcea), his brother, Michael Gold (Lorraine Cohen), his brother-in-law, Raul Rubio, and his nephew, Jacob Gold.
The family would like to thank the nurses in the orthopedic and intermediate care section of the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, especially Nikki, Audra, Kenya, and Peter, who treated with care and compassion during his last days.
