

Imogene Marie Avery, 76, passed away the morning of Thursday, October 13, 2011 in Tallahassee, Florida.
Imogene was born in Norfolk Virginia, on November 21, 1934 and was a graduate of Miami Jackson High School, class of 1953. She worked in Miami at the Baptist Bookstore before moving up to Tallahassee to take care of her elderly mother, Nancy, after the passing of Imogene’s father, Charles. In Tallahassee she worked at the Florida Department of Highway Safety. I mogene enjoyed traveling, attending church (Immanuel Baptist Church), and cheering on her favorite NFL team, the Miami Dolphins. She was also a staple at Tallahassee’s former minor-league professional ice hockey team, the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks’ games.
Imogene was the daughter of Charles L. and Nancy O. Dickerson. She was the oldest of four children.
She is survived by her brother, Charles Dickerson (Tacoma, WA), her sister, Ann Koretzky (Vancouver, WA) and her brother, Theodore “Ted” Dickerson (Tallahassee, FL); her daughter, Tammy M. Colao; 3 grandchildren, Jesse Fallon, Angelina Colao and Anthony Colao; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Chapel 700 Timberlane Road (850) 893-4177 on Monday October 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
