Jackie Rennick was born in Washington County, Virginia on June 27, 1929.
She attended local schools, including West Virginia Business College. She was awarded a scholarship to Cape Cod Conservatory where she studied creative writing.
Jackie was a homemaker for many years before pursuing a twenty-year career in real estate.
Active in the Tallahassee community, Jackie served as President of Tallahassee Woman’s Club, President of Toastmistress Club, International Chairman of Altrusa Club. She was on the Board of Tallahassee Music Guild and Tallahassee Theatre Guild. She was a past member of Springtime Tallahassee, a Docent at the Governor’s Mansion for over 25 years, and a Hospice volunteer.
A Christian by faith, Jackie served many years as a Sunday School teacher in various churches. She was the Director of the Women’s Missionary Union at Parkway Baptist Church and taught Home Missions for the Baptist Association. On becoming a member of First Baptist Church of Tallahassee, she was a member of the International Department for over 30 years.

She danced at the American Legion most Tuesday nights for years and was still swaying to the music at Friday socials at Red Hills Retirement Center up to 4 months ago.
Jackie loved traveling and traveled much of the world. Her husband, Charles Rennick, was in the Air Force and she spent two years in Japan when he was stationed there. She had Carolyn, her first child, in Japan. She traveled to China in the early 1990’s and enjoyed seeing the Great Wall of China. (She also broke free of the government sponsored guide and went on an unauthorized tour of a Chinese department store.) Wanting her grandchildren to experience life abroad, the summer before their senior years, she took many to a country of their choice. They traveled to England, France, Italy and Costa Rica.

Jackie was a fashionista (a talent she did not bequeath to her daughters) and she could take $10.00 into a Thrift Shop and come out looking like a Vogue model. When she was in her mid-80’s, her 30+ year-old granddaughters did a fashion show from her closet and all took home an outfit that was stylish enough for them to wear.
Jackie wrote and published a novel, When Morning Comes, and two books of poetry, A Glimpse of the Soul and A Caged Bird Sings. Her poetry appeared in several publications including The Best Poetry and Poets of 2001.
Strong in faith, Jackie was a believer in God’s grace through his son Jesus Christ. She felt blessed with a wonderful family and many good friends. She enjoyed a full productive life. She considered her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren her greatest assets.
