IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR MOM, JACKIE ELIZABETH WOOD
Jackie, 79, was born in Red Bay, Alabama, and resided in Tallahassee for 47 years. She passed April 21, 2021, at home with Hospice care, and was surrounded by her family. Her wish was to be cremated with no service or celebration.
She was the youngest of five sisters and five brothers. She worked in the nursing profession for 58 years as a LPN, and retired during her employment with Tallahassee Ears Nose, & Throat P.A., where she worked directly with Dr. Marie Becker. During her nursing career, she touched so many lives and made many lifetime friends.
She loved all sports and if you knew her, you knew she was a loyal Florida Gator fan. Until a few years ago, she held session football tickets to the Florida Gator games and was always excited to travel to Gainesville to watch the Gator's play football. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren didn't call her "Grandma" they called her "Gator".
She loved family, traveling, Grissom family reunions, watching The Young and the Restless soaps, attending motocross races, and talking and visiting with her best of friends Aletta Shutes and Betty Flyn.
Survivors are two children: Christa Wood Patterson and Michael Bradley Wood, of Tallahassee. Four grandchildren; Jessica Patterson Ray of Travelers Rest, SC; Michael Patterson of Tallahassee; Ansley Wood of Tallahassee; Laney Wood of Tallahassee. Two great-grandchildren; Knox Ray of Travelers Rest, SC; and Samantha Patterson of Tallahassee.
She may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Love You and Miss You Mom Christa and Brad
