James "Gerald" Childers Sr.

James “Gerald” Childers, Sr., passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, at home in Woodville, Florida.

Services for Mr. Childers will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at Aenon Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. John McDaniel will officiate. Interment will be at Culley’s Meadow Wood Cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

James “Gerald” Childers, Sr. was born in Quincy, Florida, December 3, 1953, to James Robert Childers and Margarette Smith Childers. Gerald moved to Woodville, Florida in 1976. He was married to Marlene Clenney Childers, his high school sweetheart. He was a Heavy Equipment Supervisor for over 35 years.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Marlene Clenney Childers; his children, James Gerald Childers, Jr. and wife Angie of Woodville, Florida; Angela Childers of Laurel, Maryland; his mother, Margarette Childers; one brother, Jimmie Childers of Thomasville, Georgia; three sisters, Barbara Butler and husband Mike, of Crawfordville, Florida, Sharon Tucker and husband Gary of Havana, Florida, Pam Auker and husband Jack of Quincy, Florida; two grandchildren, Amber Childers of Woodville, Florida and James Gerald Childers, III, of Woodville, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Childers.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
