

Born in Tallahassee, Florida on March 22, 1933, he was a lifelong resident of Leon County.
He graduated from Leon High School in 1951. After high school he proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1956.
After discharge, he attended Florida State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and went on to earn a Master of Accounting Degree in 1963. He was a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He went on to build a successful accounting private practice.
While at FSU, he met his wife Martha Sue Chandler, and they were married in 1958. They settled locally and raised three children. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, these traditions he passed to his children and grandchildren.
A devoted Christian, his greatest joy was serving the Lord. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and ministering to family and friends throughout his life. All aspects of his life were founded in his love of Christ and his prayerful spirit.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him and those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna “Susie” Parslow (Matt), Sharron “Shari” Phillips (Carl). His grandchildren, Sharon Davis (Ben), Caren Sloniker (John), Jack Hartsfield, Trapp Hartsfield, George Hartsfield, Carlye Phillips and Daniel Phillips. His great-grandsons, Raylan Davis and Reid Sloniker.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Sue Hartsfield, his son John Wescott “Scott” Hartsfield and his parents Wescott and Rubye Hartsfield.
A visitation for Jack will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home , 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. Graveside services will be private.
