Born November 12, 1957, in Hewlett, New York, Jim moved to Miami as a young child and later graduated from Florida State University. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his brother, Richard Rudnick; his sister, Ann McNicol; his son, Alex, and daughter-in-law, Lindsey; his daughter, Natalie, and son-in-law, Bryan; and his cherished granddaughters, Penelope, Fiona, and Sylvia.
After graduating from Florida State University, he made Tallahassee his home. He was an extremely successful and accomplished local and national real estate developer. His legacy in this area will continue well beyond his passing.
Jim was an extremely active individual. You could always find him outdoors on a tennis court, walking or riding one of his beloved bikes. Even after his health declined, he continued to enjoy outdoor activities and became an avid e-bike rider.
Jim loved to travel and visited many places across the world with Mary and with his many, many friends. He went skiing almost every year with friends and family. Jim was great with numbers which greatly helped with his love of Las Vegas. He went to Vegas several times a year with friends. He was considered by many as a “professional” gambler. Jim was always “up for” a trip to anywhere his family or friends wanted to go.
Jim was an avid lover of sports. His enjoyed watching and following his beloved Seminoles, Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Braves no matter how good or bad their season was. He loved watching (and sometimes betting on) any sporting event – he was even known to bet on professional “Ping Pong” matches!
Jim had an extremely generous and kind heart. He donated to FSU, Hillel House and many other charities throughout his life. He was also always willing to help out those in need without looking for any recognition.
Jim’s kindness and generosity were not just demonstrated through his financial donations. He truly cared about everyone in his life. He had weekly breakfasts and lunches with friends and spent so much of that time checking in on their lives. There was never a time that you were with Jim that he was not expressing genuine concern for you and everyone in your life. His love and care for everyone was extraordinary.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 17, at 5:00 p.m. at Goodwood Museum & Gardens, 1600 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee. Arrangements are under the care of Culley’s Funeral Directors. Jim was a caring and considerate friend to all he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. https://thefoundationcares.org/give/
