

John was an avid fisherman, storyteller, boater, and traveler, who enjoyed the outdoors to the fullest, especially in the company of his lifelong friends. He loved his Seminoles (FSU class of ‘76) and listening to the Braves on the radio.
John was preceded in death by his father John Inzer Alford Jr. and his mother Lorena Reames Alford. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cheryl Rudd Alford, his two daughters and their husbands Alison Alford Gibson (Carlisle) and Kaitlin Alford Walker (Andrew), his two sisters Catherine Mann and Phoebe Alford, and his brother Jeff Alford. He is additionally survived by his loyal companion, Deacon, the old lady cat Cassie, and three granddogs (Annabelle, Captain, and Beauregard).
A wake celebrating his life will be from 1:30 - 3:30 pm on Saturday October 1, 2016 at Dorothy B. Oven Park in Tallahassee, FL. Hawaiian shirts and Nole wear is appreciated and encouraged. In keeping with his wishes, no formal services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation 5202 Paylor Lane Sarasota, Fl. 34240. John received excellent care from Dr. Patel and his angels.
