

John O’Malie Jacobs, Sr., 92, a former resident of Tampa, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. Born April 2, 1933 in Five Points, AL, he was the son of the late Arthur Lee Jacobs, Sr. and Mary Bernice O’Malie Jacobs.
John was married to the love of his life and soul mate, Millie, for 68 beautiful years until her death on August 30, 2024. Their marriage was an example of commitment and unity to all that knew them. They had three children.
He is survived by his daughter, Marian Millicent Jacobs; son, John O’Malie Jacobs, Jr. and his wife, Angie; daughter, Catherine Jacobs Newell and her husband, Dave; grandchildren, Caitlin Newell Cousins, Haley Kathryn Jacobs, Emily Newell McCullough (Nate), Meagan Marie Jacobs, Jayne Jacobs Johnston (Merrill), and Nicholas Jacob Newell. He has a great-grandchild, Maverick McCullough.
John had many interests. He loved the Lord. John and Millie worshiped at Lake Magdalene Methodist Church in Tampa, FL where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School. He also loved spending time with family and friends, and was a passionate Auburn Tigers fan. John was a proud 1957 graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute, which is now Auburn University. He enjoyed traveling with Millie. After his retirement with AT&T, they traveled nationally and abroad. He cherished his family dearly and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 am CST; Auburn University Chapel, 139 South College Street, Auburn, AL.
A funeral service for John will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
Following the funeral service will be an interment with military honors at Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
