In the early morning hours of March 3, 2015, John Robin Meyer softly drifted from the arms of his wife into the open arms of the Lord. Although our hearts are broken, we are joyful he is now healed and celebrating in Heaven with his mother, Dona Jeanne Meyer, his brother Stephen Meyer, and his sister Linda Meyer Fultz.John was born August 13, 1950 in Litchfield, Illinois where he began a lifetime filled with love, laughter, adventure and lifelong friendships. He grew up in nearby Mt. Olive before moving to Sarasota, Florida as a teenager. He attended Sarasota High School excelling in basketball and football. After playing just a few games, he was offered and accepted a football scholarship to Kansas State University. After college, John returned to Florida where he began a long career in construction as a general contractor, creating Meyer Construction Company, taking on new projects from Tallahassee to Key West.Everyone John met became his friend. As a consequence, through laughter, determination and kindness, he was a wonderful friend to everyone. So full of life, he will remain in our hearts always.John is survived by his wife Patti, in Tallahassee. They were married for 26 years. In Sarasota, his father Marvin Walter Meyer and his wife Kathleen; his first wife Vicki Voss and her husband Mark; his daughter Jennifer Meyer Robb and grandchildren Garrett, Keelie, and Ethan; his son John Philip Meyer and grandchildren Savana and JD, and stepson William Patrick Cox, in Panama City. His sisters-in-law Carol Davey and husband Dale of Tallahassee, Jennifer Lalau and husband Fil of Tampa, Cindy Ross and husband John of Tallahassee, and Sandy Muller and husband Jeff of Maui. And so very many treasured nieces and nephews that he loved with all his heart.John's memorial service will be in Sarasota on Saturday, March 28 at 2pm at Community Bible Chapel located at 4201 Bahia Vista Street.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The David Gigliotti Legacy Foundation at www.gigslegacy.org.
