

John was born March 22, 1927 in St. Louis Missouri. He was a decorated war hero serving his country in the United States Army Infantry. Tours of duty included Korea and Vietnam. He was a silver star, bronze star and purple heart recipient and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also worked for the Florida Department of Commerce.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Marie; and their children, Mary Beth Pliskin (Scott), Patricia Butler (Steve), John Morrissey Jr. and Daniel Morrissey; grandchildren, Daniel Gilson (Jacki) and Christina Butler; great grandchildren, Jarrett, Arianna and Aiden; his niece, Marlene Carroll ( Joe); and a nephew, John Kienzle (Judy).
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Saint Barnabas Catholic church in O’Fallon, Missouri with Msgr. Dan Hogan as celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis immediately following Mass. Family will receive friends from 9:30 am Friday at church. A local memorial service is being planned for the near future.
