John was my step dad for many years. He was also a huge part of my children’s lives growing up, especially my son Landon. He was his coach, his role model, but most of all his Papa. He invested many years helping Landon become an amazing athlete, but more importantly a great human being. 
He always kept in touch with us, even after he and my mother divorced. We spent many Christmas days spending time together and catching up. He got me a Colt’s jersey (Manning)one year and it was the BEST!! 
When we lived in Tallahassee he use to call me regularly to pick him up cigarettes and beer. My husband and I always laughed because i knew his grocery list before he would tell us. 
I will cherish all our memories and never forget the gift he gave me of being an amazing grandpa.

I'm dropping a line about Uncle John. He wasn't my blood uncle, but that's how I saw him, especially from the age of 15 when I first met him, until I graduated from FSU.

John was the coach of the local baseball team and he's the one who “drafted” me, the new kid in town. That gesture had a huge impact on me, and kicked off some of the best years of my life. Whether it was the the early days of fantasy football, our fishing trips to St; Marks, or those legendary golf games, he was a part of it all.

And let's not forget the times we “borrowed” the mini-van for a wild trip to the Keys. John had this cool, easy-going vibe, never judging, just letting us learn from our own mistakes.

It's been a while since I've seen him, but those memories are unforgettable. John was complicated, but my recollections are all positive and full of good times.

His passing is a sad chapter, but the memories? They're gold. He was one of a kind.

Having known John for over 25 years, I will certainly miss him. Just because I left Tally over 5 years ago doesn't mean we weren't in contact. I certainly miss the days of in-person Fantasy Football and Fantasy Baseball drafts with him, often at his place. The occasional poker game at his place, and since I have left Tally, the email sports trivia questions he would send me, and the midnight phone calls when he would have technical difficulties with our Fantasy Sports software/websites. R.I.P. my friend.
