John Ray Roberts

John Ray was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family above all else and treasured every moment shared with those he loved. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Amy Kay Roberts, whose love and companionship were the foundation of a life well lived.

An avid football fan, John Ray could always be found cheering on the Florida State Seminoles. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace in the outdoors, and never missed an opportunity to visit with friends. He spent countless hours running Roberts Grocery and enjoyed each day greeting and helping his customers. Whether he was sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying good company, he had a way of making people feel welcome.

John Ray also had a passion for western movies and spent countless hours working on vehicles, taking pride in fixing things with his own hands. His strong work ethic, practical skills, and quiet wisdom were admired by everyone who knew him.

More than anything, John Ray will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He was a caring father, grandfather, husband, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed.

John Ray was preceded in death by his father Lee Roberts, mother Florrie Robers, and sister Leona Harrell. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Kay Roberts; his children, Michael Roberts (Lisa) and Ann Tappen (Billy); and his four grandchildren, Storme Roberts, Lawson Tappen, Kaysie Tappen, and Cassie Roberts; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his love, laughter, and the memories he created will remain with us always. His life was one of dedication, love, and quiet strength, and his legacy will live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308, on August 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location on August 1, 2026, at 3:00 pm.

Burial following the service will take place at Oakland Cemetery, 838 N Bronough Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32303, on August 1, 2026.
