I guess I am writing this one to Joe up in Heaven Freeta, I have already posted on the guest book, but I have to say it again, I miss my buddy Joe so much, I thought he would live forever and I still can't believe he is not here, please call me if you need me anytime as I can understand how you are feeling since my precious husband Charlie passed away from a fire accident in his wheelchair July 14, 2010 - so Freeta and Family, I know just how you all are feeling right now, 24-7.....loving all of you so much. Mrs. Fretta, as you know Joe is in heaven getting everything organized, as I quite know he will always find a way too do things his way, this is what I always loved about him, sometimes he would make me so angry, but it wouldn't be long he would have me thinking his way, God is a lucky soul to have joe joe with him

I will miss Joe very much, he was like a Brother to me.  You see, I was one of those "widows" he looked after.  He checked on me everyday.  If I hadn't called Fretta, He called me that evening.  Always wanted to know if I was allright and if I needed anything.  I had the pleasure of knowing Joe and Fretta since 1960 and watched their family grow.  I am truly Blessed !See You soon, Joe!!

Mr. Joe was a wonderful person. He will be missed.

What a wonderful celebration of Joe's life over the past two days.  He will be missed by so many but the peace of where he is and to know he is painfree is comforting.  As his son told us, "Our loss is God's gain"!  We love you all so much and pray that you are comforted by the love that surrounds you.

Joe was a close friend to  Ray and our family, we will miss him, but he and Ray are walking the streets of gold today.

What a fine man Joe Mitchell was and is!  Always a loving smile  to give to others.  Always making you feel that you were the most important person in the world when he spoke with you. To the family of Joe Mitchelle, thank you for sharing this wonderful man with the law enforcement community for all those years.  Joe was indeed a great man and will be sorely missed by all.  During Joe's military service in Desert Storm, we corresponded and what a pleasure to receive a letter from Joe!  A great sense of humor, and a pleasure to be around, what ever the circumstance.  For each of you, hold on to those great memories and know with all your heart that as Christians, we will be with Joe one great day!

Dad, you will forever be in our hearts. You would have been happy with your service today. We cried, we laughed, and your friends shared stories of the past 50 + years of how you touched their lives. You no doubt know, that you prepared us to be strong for this sad day. You did a good job. I never dreamed I could have such peace on the day of your passing. Yes, I am sad, as I have tear filled eyes typing this. But as I watched you slip away in those last 4 days, I could feel the peace building inside of me. For I knew you were headed for a place with no pain, and a new body, a perfect body, and that gives me great relief. You and I never said goodbye at anytime in our lives. It was always, see ya later, or talk to ya soon, or come see us, and usually followed by "Ace". I will not say goodbye now either, but I will say, See ya later Ace. We will meet again. I miss you my friend, and I have never been more proud to be called your Son. Love ya!!!

Joe and Fretta were among a very few charter members of our church, in 1963.  They were a great help in developing the church ministries and always faithful to our Lord and loyal to me, their pastor.  I will never cease to be grateful for their active support of the church. They were always there. We all know that Joe is with our Lord now and far removed from sickness, pain and all the weaknesses of the flesh. Joe was a wonderfuil friend of our family and will be missed so much, Ray and Joe are walking the golden streets today, New Years Eve will never be the same, and the time we spent together.
