He was born in Panama, Republic of Panama on July 21, 1937. Joe graduated from Balboa High School and the University of Florida. He was married to Beverly Bowman Wood. Joe worked 33 years for the Panama Canal Commission.
He was a member of the Elks and was President of the Panama Canal Museum. He had a passion for golf, the Florida Gators, and cruising. He was survived by his wife of 55 years, Bev; his sons, Craig (wife, Heather), Brian (wife, Karina), and Scott; sister, Ann Wood (husband, Ray); granddaughter, Cameron; and grandsons, Jordan, AJ, and Asher. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Tallahassee, FL.
