Kathryn Reeves Finch, of Tallahassee, Fl. passed away Monday, February 15th, 2021, unexpectedly at Centre Pointe Health and Rehab in Tallahassee, Fl.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel in Tallahassee, with burial at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm prior to the service.

Kathryn Reeves was born November 28, (I have been sworn to never tell you her age) in Jakin, Ga. to the parents of William Reeves Sr. and Emma Hayes Reeves.

Kathryn was a retired beautician and worked her early years downtown in Tallahassee at the salon at the Cherokee Hotel. It was around this time when she met a tall drink o’ water with dark hair and piercing blue eyes by the name of Jimmy. She married that tall handsome man on March 5th, 1949, and they began their lives together. She opened her shop in her home in Forest Heights and continued for many years to roll, curl, set, perm, and color a many head of hair. She was a devoted and longtime member of Forest Heights Baptist church, a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, and an amazing great grandmother, who will be forever missed dearly.

Other than her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, James E. Finch Sr., brother Bill Reeves, sister Ruth Lane, and her favorite baby brother, Edward Clark Reeves. She is survived by her loving family, two sons, James E. Finch Jr. and John William Finch, both of Tallahassee; four granddaughters, Amanda E. Finch (Tammy) of Tallahassee, Brooke Murphy (Brandon) of Yokota AFB in Fussa, Japan, Tori Leggett (Cort𝑒́) of Fort Walton Beach, Haylea Finch of Fort Walton Beach, and one very special great grandson, Brandon Devon Murphy Jr.

She also leaves behind a host of other dear family members, to include a dear close cousin, Kathy Vanlandingham, friends from near and far, and a Facebook “groupie” following that she didn’t even realized existed, that followed and loved her by way of Amanda sharing her with the world. The Finch family would also like to extend a special and loving thank you to Hank Walsh, Katoria Westbrook, and the entire nursing staff of Centre Pointe Rehab for the wonderful, kind, and compassionate care that they provided to our sweet angel, Kathryn

I woke up this morning and believe it or not, I’m at peace more so than I ever thought I’d be right now, the very next morning, after laying you to rest. I get great comfort knowing you are out of pain and no longer suffering, even though I have no idea how I’m going to navigate each day without my Bama calls each morning, each afternoon, and each evening, but at least 3 times a day, hearing your sweet voice.

I love you Bama and I honored you yesterday and hope you felt my love for you! I heard so many stories, memories, and even were given some wonderful pictures that people had of us over the years. I know you were proud of me, but I intend to continue to make you proud!

I’ll meet you at the beach one day, love, but until then, dance your little heart out and enjoy all those waves! 😘🤙🏼❤️🌊

Although I didn't know "Bama" very well the stories about her shared by my amazing cousin Amanda Finch made me feel as though I knew her more. She will be missed & to all those who loved her & knew her you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. This world will not be the same without her that's for sure. May God bring peace to all that loved her & knew her.
