I worked with Kurt for the '90-'91 legislative year while I was an intern and he was on staff.  He showed me all the great mountain biking trails around Tallahassee, introduced me to kayaking on the local rivers and taught me all I know about backcountry camping and the best gear to buy.  He was as good a person as you could ever hope to meet and I was blessed to spend so much quality time for that one year with him and Mary.

It truly saddens me to learn of the passing of this great friend and former classmate.  Kurt was always fun to be around with his quick wit and out going personality.  Even though we didn't get to see each other (after high school) accept for class re-unions I always enjoyed talking and spending time with him.  Kurt always seemed to maintain the highest ethical standards no matter what we were doing and take time to talk to people that needed cheering up or were down and out.   So it doesn't surprise me that Kurt was also a great christian, father and family man I just wished we had more time to spend together over the years.  Kurt's parents can rest assured that they raised a great man of God and integrity and he will be waiting on them in heaven.   And to Kurt's wife and children may God Bless you and comfort you during this trying time.

I went to high school with Kurt. He was so smart and one of the kindest people you'd ever want to know. He seemed to always have a smile on his face. I am so so sorry for your loss.

Kurt was a tremendous person.  He worked with us on the Auditing Committee for a brief period.  He was a  brilliant  analyst but I will remember Kurt  most for his engaging personality  and his hilarious sense of humor.

Reading the moving obituary brought back wonderful memories of the all times I was lucky enough to share with Kurt.  The weekend exploits Kurt dreamed up could take us anywhere from the Gulf of Mexico to the Carolina mountains but always involved being outside, never being bored, and more often than not, included one his functional masterpieces created from old or discarded items.  I remember spending two days exploring St. Joe Bay in sea kayaks he made by bolting the blades of a salvaged window fan on the back of two very used, small whitewater kayaks he found for $25 at a yard sale.  Kurt could make anything sound like a good idea.  Although the make-shift sea kayaks turned out to be less sea worthy in open waters than he had anticipated and we spent most of the trip being very wet, we still had a blast.  The memories are vivid almost three decades later. 
Although I lost touch some time ago when I moved half-way across the continent to raise my own family, I feel blessed to have been his friend and to have been inspired by him.  There are very few like him and he will be missed.

The family was in church on Fathers Day.  They sat in front of us.  His love for his family and their love for him was very evident that day and so heart warming to see.  May that feeling stay with you forever....God Bless.

What a great description of the industrious, godly, loving family man that Kurt was.  Mary - even though I did not get to spend time with Kurt, your conversations about him were so full of the fun you had together and the adventures you all shared.  I know you have lost bits and pieces of that along this difficult journey and the adjustments and sorrow will continue.  I am praying for God to meet you every day right where you need him.

The Eichin's are dear to us.  We lost a great person in Kurt...our prayers are for the strength to the whole Eichin family.  We know where Kurt's soul is, so we are at peace with the situation, but we miss him as so many others do.   I could always relate to Kurt, always approachable, always kind...not found too often these days.  He was one of our favorite soccer Dads, as his daughters were the same ages as ours. My dearest Eichin Family,  I just found out...... I am so sorry for your loss, though Kurt is not lost, but has now found the physical arms of Jesus.  
 I have some amazing memories of  being in youth group at Good Shepherd,  and  hanging out some in Tallahassee in the early 80's.    A  man of honor and a true giver of light to all those  around him.  My prayers are for you all.  
May the Great Comforter give you super natural comfort and assurance of a time of being together once again in The Place of Glory for eternity.

Kurt was as exactly as described in this beautiful obituary.   25+ years ago, we became friends working in the basement of the House Office Building, and I remember him modifying a home-made truck bed cover for my old Mazda pickup...complete with a secret panel for quick access to a cooler...for grabbing a bottle of water:)   Mary, please accept my sincere condolences. I hope that someday I can be as strong of character and body as Kurt Eichin. He fought the good fight for a LONG time.  He showed me what real courage and strength are and how a positive attitude can overcome most anything. I met Kurt back when we both worked at Bennigan's and we remained lifelong friends. He was one of the good guys in a process that doesn't always allow people to show their better sides. My heart and prayers go out to Mary and his kids. Kurt, you will be missed.
