Larry Gibb, 90, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2013.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 22, 1923, Larry grew up during the Great Depression the oldest of 4 children. Larry served his country during WWII in the US Navy. He saw action in the Pacific Theater, participating in the liberation of the Philippines and the battle of Okinawa. Larry worked for the Panama City News Herald as publisher, and then went to work in new home construction. Larry’s strong work ethic kept him busy until his retirement at the age of 83 from Premier Construction of Tallahassee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel in1995. He will be forever loved and remembered by his daughter, Kathleen Joy; granddaughter, Terri Coolidge; great-grandchildren, Skip and Savannah Coolidge, all of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Paul Gibb, of Hiawassee, GA; and sister, Shirley Bushey of Detroit, MI.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 17th at Culley’s MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 624 Miccosukee Rd, Tallahassee, FL. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Panama City, FL at 2:00pm (CST)
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee.
