

Larry Vernon Jauert, age 75, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Tallahassee, Florida at Capital Regional Medical Center. Larry fought a courageous battle with melanoma skin cancer which ultimately lead to his death.
Larry was born in Lima, Ohio on October 26, 1942 to the late Vernon and Ruby (Hoelscher) Jauert. Larry grew up in New Knoxville, Ohio and graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1960. He lived in Lake Wales, Florida and San Diego, California and previously resided in Findlay, Ohio. He attended Bowling Green State University where he obtained his Associates Degree in Business. Prior to his retirement in 2000, Larry was a dedicated employee of Marathon Oil Company for over 35 years.
In April 1970, Larry became the beloved husband of Joann (Kentner) Jauert who survives. In addition to his wife, Larry leaves his daughter, Jodi Jauert-Payne (Paul) of San Diego, California, Rick Jauert (Andrew Sloan) of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Amy Jauert (Kelli Gannon) of San Diego, California.
Larry’s pride and joy were his five grandchildren; Ezekiel Payne (15), Payton Payne (13), Avery Payne (11), Jordan Jauert-Gannon (11), and Mason Jauert-Gannon (6) all of whom reside in San Diego, California.
Family has always played an integral part of Larry’s life. He leaves behind several loving family members including his younger brother James (Barbara) Jauert, sisters-in-law, Vonnie Ruese, Ruth Doering, Barb (Max) Place, brother-in-law Dean (Donna) Kentner and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Marian Kentner, sisters-in-law Jane Sawmiller, Joyce Schlenker, brothers-in-law Jim Sawmiller, Ned Doering, Mike Ruese and Mike Schlenker.
He took pride in watching his grandchildren in all their activities, but always had a lifelong passion for fishing. In January of this year Larry caught his personal best largemouth bass, weighing 10.5 pounds.
For the past several years Larry was a board member and former president of the Senior Anglers Fishing Club of Escondido. He assisted with numerous events catering to children, including those with special needs.
A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moulton, Ohio. Open House will follow at the Wapakoneta Family YMCA.
