She was the daughter of Edward and Lillie Mae Kitzmiller of Washington County Tennessee. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her two brothers; Niles Kitzmiller and Howard Kitzmiller; and four sisters; Lucille Keys, Joy McCracken, Erma Hensley, and Margaret Sizemoore. She is survived by several nephews and nieces.
She moved to Florida in 1956, living eventually in Tampa where she served as an Administrative Aide with the Florida Legislature. In 1979, she moved to Tallahassee to be employed with the Department of Commerce. Her primary work was with the Florida Film Commission and International Tourism. Her job took her to several countries in Europe and enabled her to meet many Hollywood personalities. She retired in 1997.
She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, traveling, playing bridge and attending women’s bible studies. She loved her cats and much of the décor in her home had the “cat” theme. Her main hobby was reading. She volunteered in reading to the blind and was at one time on the board of the Florida Division of Blind Services. She also provided financial support for several children at the Lighthouse Children’s Home. Laura was an active member of Grace Church of Tallahassee for the past 40 years.
The best and most important thing about Laura is that she had a relationship with God through her Lord Jesus Christ. Though raised in the church, it was not until later in life that some friends invited her to a bible study where she came to realize her need to repent and trust in Christ alone as her Lord and Savior. Her faith in Christ is why Laura is in heaven today.
A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Church of Tallahassee on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11am.
