Lee M. Edwards, 97, of Tallahassee died on March 16, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 28, 1921 in St.Louis Missouri. Lee grew up and graduated high school in Forest, Indiana. He worked a short time before joining the Navy in July 1942. Lee was crew chief/mechanic in the Black Cat Squadron, stationed in Guadalcanal. He was promoted to 2nd Class Petty Officer before he was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1946. Lee married Geraldine Dickey in 1948. The family moved with their two sons to Tallahassee in 1954. He worked at the U.S. Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier and retired in 1984. Lee was a 50 year member of Robert Butler Masonic Lodge, York Rite Bodies, Marzuq Shrine Temple, Tallahassee Chapter 119 Order of the Eastern Star, VFW, and American Legion. He was of member the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Lee was an example of the “Greatest Generation”. He was very devoted to his family, God, and country. He enjoyed boating, fishing and going to the beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother. He is survived by his wife Geraldine, brother Bruce (Vivian), two sons Victor (Katrin) and Richard, granddaughter, and great grandson. A graveside service will be held Wednesday March 21, 2018 at 1:00pm at Culley’s MeadowWood on Timberlane Rd. In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and Covenant Presbyterian Church building fund.
