Born in Dundee, Texas, on October 14, 1916 to Lilly Bailey and Charles Sylvano Richardson, she met Maurice Litton in Austin, Texas, and they were married in August 1940. When Mr. Litton joined the FSU faculty in 1962, they moved to Tallahassee from Joplin, Missouri. Lea had earned her Degree in Elementary Education from North Texas Teacher’s College but her primary occupation was homemaker and friend. She was an active and dedicated member of the Timberlane Church of Christ. She always enjoyed people and epitomized southern hospitality. She had a heart for children and many in the neighborhood considered 807 Devon a second home, full of love and peace. Although she was slight in stature and gentle, she most certainly was ‘tough as nails’.
Lea is survived by her son, Stanley Litton, of Tallahassee; daughters-in-law Tria Litton of Atlanta and Sally Litton of Tallahassee; sister, Mozelle Kunkle, of Irving, Texas; grandchildren Kelly (Nathan) Keister, Michael (Crystal) Litton, and Elizabeth Litton; greatgrandchildren Taylor, Asher, & Adelyn Keister; Kylie, Tessa, & Haley Litton; and Aiden Litton all of Atlanta; and numerous nephews and nieces. Lea is preceded in death by her loving husband Maurice, and her son Ron.
Funeral services will be Sunday (6/5) at 2:00 PM in the Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Chapel, Riggins Road.
