
Letha Beall was born in Excel, Alabama, on February 4, 1924, to Jessie Allen Shumack and Mary Frances Rhodes. She was a long time resident of Tallahassee at the time of her death on September 29, 2016. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and participating in church and volunteer activities. She always made sure family members had a special birthday dinner and loved to prepare meals for friends. She had a special place in her heart for children, including those growing up in her neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, John Angus Beall, her son James Calvin Beall and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Madeline Hollon, her much-loved son-in-law Danny Hollon, her grandchildren Lauren Strong Wilderman, William "Will" Strong (Stephanie), Sarah Catherine Beall, Justin Beall (Megan) and Mary Grace Beall, great grandchildren David Matthew Wigley, Baela Strong, Kelton Strong, and Calvin Beall, a brother, Andrew Darius "Doc" Shumack and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to the staff of Broadview Assisted Living and to Big Bend Hospice for their loving care.
A funeral service will be held Sunday - October 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road in Tallahassee. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. For those who choose, donations can be made to Tallahassee Animal Services, 1125 Easterwood Drive, Tallahassee, Florida 32311, or to a charity of your choice.
