Lisa Roche Boyd of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home, after an extended battle with cancer, in the early morning hours of July 4, 2026. She was born on May 1, 1967, in Atlanta, Georgia, the beloved daughter of William Howard Roche, Jr. and Elizabeth (Armes) Rylan. Lisa graduated from Frankfurt International School in Oberursel, Germany and received her BS in Marketing from the Florida State University in Tallahassee.
Lisa worked as the Governor’s Mall Kiosk Manager for the Rouse Company, the regional Corporate Accounts Manager of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the Office Manager at The Parlor hair salon, the Regional Coordinator for Scholastic Book Fairs, the Assistant to the Director of Children’s Ministries at Trinity United Methodist Church, and as a substitute teacher in the Media Center at Gilchrist Elementary School.
Lisa was a naturally creative person who especially enjoyed expressing herself through arts, crafts, and hands-on projects in support of causes and institutions in which she believed. She was a book lover and ambassador of children’s literacy at public schools long before her work at Scholastic and Gilchrist. She had similarly played a big role in making Vacation Bible School come to life at Trinity for many years before her employment there. She was a member and former officer of P.E.O., promoting women’s higher education and was a dedicated member of the “Clownfish Asylum,” a water aerobics group, where she of course made custom clownfish hats and personalized everyone’s aquatic barbells. She devoted herself to caring for her husband and two children and was always happiest when spending time with them.
Lisa was predeceased by her father, William Roche Jr. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Victoria Rylan; her husband, Foster Scott Boyd; her son, Austin Taylor Boyd; her daughter, Allie Elizabeth Boyd; her brother William H. Roche III (Dongling) and nieces Sophia and Alexandra Roche.
