Lisbeth “Libby” B. Gray, age 88 of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. Libby was born on June 20, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia to Colonel Clifford and Ruth Blitch. Her father was a doctor in the Army and the family traveled throughout the United States and the Panama Canal Zone. Libby met the love of her life, Charles Edward “Eddie” Gray, Jr. , when she was five years old in Tallahassee, FL and would later meet up with him again while they both attended Florida State University. The couple married on September 7, 1955. Eddie was a 2LT in the Air Force and their first years were in Texas where he attended flight school. She accompanied him around the United States throughout his military career until his retirement in 1977 in Tampa, FL. She and Eddie later moved back to Tallahassee in 1981 where they built a beautiful home in East Leon County. Libby worked at Earl Bacon Agency for many years.
Libby loved to tell jokes and strike up conversations with total strangers. She loved everyone – even those she had never met. She loved quilting, knitting, gardening, and she especially loved spending time with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Libby and Eddie were active members of Grace Church of Tallahassee for many years. She participated in many Bible studies, weekly prayer groups, and Greek class. Libby was a true prayer warrior.
Libby is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Gray. She is survived by her four children: Gary Gray (Lynda), April (husband Ron Egger), Susan (husband Mark Geer), and Beth (husband Michael Hoskins), along with 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
