

Lois Juanita Jordan, age 89, died September 22, 2016. She was born in Miccosukee, Florida to Marvin and Walla Jordan, one of thirteen children. She retired in 1992 from the Florida Secretary of State Office, Division of Corporations. Her proudest accomplishments in life were her three sons and grandchildren, who adoringly referred to her as Grandma Sweetie.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and her son Carl Douglas “Corky” Wood. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Edward, Bryant, Francis, Hayward, Lawrence and Jack Jordan; and her sisters Lena McCloud, Merlin Joyce Russell, Mary Alice Senterfit and Sylvia Ann Brown. She is survived by her sons Ray Wood (Susan Chase) and Mike Wood (Brenda) of Tallahassee; her granddaughters Alyson Baker (Matt) of St. Augustine, Annie Wood and Michael Diane Wood of Tallahassee; her great grandchildren Luke and Elle Baker of St. Augustine; her sister Betty Goodman of Calvary, GA and brother JM Jordan of Tallahassee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored their “Aunt Weedie”.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brynwood Center in Monticello for their loving care of “Nita” for the last several year as she lived with the effects of Alzheimers. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.
A memorial service will be held 11AM Monday, September 26 at North Florida Baptist Church, 3000 N Meridian Road, Tallahassee. The family will receive friends at 10AM at the church prior to the service.
