Louise Harvey Barineau passed from this earth on January 6, 2024. She was born on November 19, 1924 to Clinton James Harvey and Margaret (Maggie) Chester Harvey. The youngest of eleven children, she was the last surviving sibling. She is survived by three of her children, Ivan (Mary) Barineau, Roger (Linda) Barineau and Stephen (Merle) Barineau, eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews and many other extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, all brothers and sisters, former husband, Paul, a son, Gary Barineau, a cherished friend, Adrian Vause, a sister-in-law Betty Harvey and others.
Louise was a lifetime resident of Leon and Gadsden Counties, FL and a graduate of Leon High School. She married Thomas Paul Barineau in June 1943. She, like many in her generation, was a long-time rural homemaker, wife and loving mother of her family. She learned to be resourceful of sometimes scarce financial resources while also generously remembering all her large family on birthdays and holidays. Her later years were active as she lived independently and loved visiting, shopping and participating in family activities. She was a loving follower of Jesus Christ.
She was affectionately called “Granny Red” first by all her adoring grandchildren. That nickname soon became common with other family, too.
The family is grateful to the staff and volunteers of Centre Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Facility, Tallahassee, for their loving care during the last 4+ years of her long life. And thanks to all her family and friends who visited, loved and enlivened her days.
Memorial services will be conducted at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home. 700 Timberlane Rd., on Sunday, January 14, Visitation will be at 1:00 PM and Funeral Services at 2:00, with burial following at Ebenezer Leon Baptist Church Cemetery.
