Louise McMillian Gordon, 88 of Tallahassee, died June 20, 2014. She was born June 12, 1926 in Valdosta, GA to James Johnson and Esther (McMillian) Johnson. Louise graduated from Bennett College at the age of 19 and worked towards her Master Degree in Library Science at Syracuse University where she also served as a faculty member. She retired as a librarian with Florida A&M University in December 1990. Louise was also a faithful member of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church in Tallahassee. She is preceded in death by her husband Earl in 2008. Louise is survived by her daughters, Debra J. Gordon and DeNise Y. Gordon both of Tallahassee and Darlene (John) Gordon-Cartwright of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Kasey (Brooks)Taylor of Chicago, Kristopher Hannah of Tallahassee and Kelli (Warren) Newton of Atlanta and Chloe Kalina Cartwright of Atlanta; her great-grandchildren, Kelsey Watkins of Chicago, Collage and Corrine Newton both of Atlanta, Christian Logan Taylor of Chicago. She is also survived by her god-daughter, Beverly Broomfield and her dear friends, John & Evelyn Ford and their three children all of Valdosta. Friends will be received Friday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home, Timberland Chapel. Funeral services will take place 12:00 noon Saturday at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. Entombment will take place in Culley’s Meadowwood Memorial Park Mausoleum.
