My Dear Cousins Debra, Denise, Darlene and families,

Your dear Mom married into the Gordon Family and instantly became one of the most admired and beloved members of our very large Gordon clan due to her class, quiet strength and incredible intelligence, and especially her love of God, all of you and the entire extended Gordon family. We were enriched by her presence among us for 60+ years and now she has transitioned to dwell with our Lord for Eternity where she awaits all of you. May God strengthen all of you to cope with life without your Mom's physical presence, but be assured that her lovely spirit will never leave you. Love, Cousin Marva Jones Brooks of Atlanta, GA

I grew up right across the street from the Gordon family. Mrs. Louise Gordon, Bless Her Soul, was a quiet woman, who cared deeply for her family. I say to her daughters, Debra, Denise & Darlene that you have the sympathy of my family caused by the this void and sorrow in your lives. Focus on the pleasant memories & good times.

Debra, Denise, & Darlene: On behalf of my daughter Renee and I, and our family in general, we want you to know that you have our heartfelt sympathy at this time. Your mom will always remain in my heart as one of my "...senior ladies..." as one of the most dedicated members and inspirational servant-leaders of FAMU Libraries in general and in particular our Offices of the Assistant Director of Planning, Budgeting, Collections Development & Management for the Florida A & M University Libraries where we had the distinctive honor of serving with your mom for a very longtime in the capacity as her AD. We will forever cherish our unique and rare friendship relationship, as we reflect on your mom's legacy in our field of library and information science, when she became a part of the FAMU Libraries in 1943,after returning to Tallahassee only one semester short of earning her MSLS from Syracuse, as she honored and dedicated her life to support the home front as a new war bride while your dad, Mr. Gordon, served with distinction in the military, seeing combat action, during WWII. So, we honor her legacy today. She will always be our inspiration, so gifted and so giving...
With all our love and admiration, with deepest sympathy,
Your special friends Dr. Vivian H. Royster & daughter Renee
(p.s. We'll be in touch at a later date, okay?)
