L’Rena Louise Holmes Woodlief, of Woodville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, at the age of 89. Louise was born in Brooksville, Mississippi to Robert Holmes and Margaret Elizabeth Morgan Holmes. She was the third of ten children and was raised in Marianna, Florida.
Louise graduated from Marianna High School in 1953 where she was a cheerleader and played clarinet in the marching band. Afterwards she attended Chipola Junior College and graduated in 1955 with an associate’s degree. She married her high school sweetheart, Bennie Woodlief, on December 23, 1955 and enjoyed travelling throughout his career in the USAF. Everywhere they lived Louise taught children’s Sunday School and touched the lives of all who knew her. Her mission was to share the gospel of Christ’s love and salvation to everyone she met. Louise welcomed everyone into her home with loving arms, especially on Sunday after church when she would often layout a huge meal for anyone who cared to come, the only rule being no discussing politics or religion at the table, sports talk was allowed as long as you were a Seminole fan. Her home was filled with love, laughter, food, young people and iced tea.
After retiring from the USAF Bennie and Louise settled in Woodville, Florida. Louise was a loan officer for Sunshine State Credit Union and Tallahassee Federal Credit Union in Tallahassee where she assisted many people to realize the possibility of their dreams coming true. She was happiest when helping others.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents and seven of her nine siblings. She is survived by her husband, Bennie Woodlief, her son Douglas Woodlief, her daughter, Judi Woodlief Page and her grandchildren, Morgan Woodlief Moran, Gilman W Page, and Benjamin W Page. She has six great grand-children. Louise will be missed by all but we celebrate in the knowledge she is with her Lord and Savior.
