Margaret S, Sawyer

Margaret Eulalie Stegall Sawyer (MESS), 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 18, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Wilburn D. (Buz) Sawyer, Jr. of Lamont, Florida. Margaret was born in Thomasville, GA on March 20, 1933 to Ivan B. Stegall and Eulalie Davis Stegall. She worked beside her husband in the family business and was a homemaker after retirement. Margaret was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tallahassee for over 50 years and loved her Sunday School Class.

Margaret was a member of Caroline Brevard Chapter, DAR having served numerous times as a chapter officer. She was currently serving as Veterans Chairmen for Dominie Everardus Bogardus Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was currently serving as Chapter Registrar of Mission San Luis de Apalachee Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonies and Chapter Registrar of Treaty of Ghent Chapter United States Daughters of 1812. She served in numerous officer position and committee chairmen for Anna Jackson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a member of Jacksonville Southern Dames.

She is survived by her children Ava Jane Davis (Al), David I. Sawyer (Wanda) and Wilburn D. (Skip) Sawyer, III. Grandchildren are Lalie Davis Lawhon (Jeremy), Megan Pate, Douglas P. Davis, Rachel Clements (Al), Crystal Smith and Jordan Sawyer. She had eight great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ivan B. (Jake) Stegall, Emily Jane Stegall and Carolyn Floyd.

Visitation will be Wed. September 21, 2011 at Culley’s Funeral Home on Riggins Rd from 6pm to 8pm.

Services will be held Thursday, Sept 22 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Tallahassee with burial to follow at Culley’s Meadowood Cemetary, Tallahassee.
