Marilyn was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was born in Johnstown, Ohio and lived in Columbus, Ohio. Marilyn attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Columbus. She married and had three daughters with Jamal Hashisho.
Marilyn relocated to Naples, Florida in 1969 where she raised her girls. She met and married William E. (Bill) Arthur in 1974.
Marilyn was the General Manager of the Witch’s Brew Restaurant until 1980. She then established a successful residential cleaning company where she cared deeply for her elderly clients. She also owned Golden Gate Dairy Queen with Bill before retiring in 2007.
Marilyn was short in stature with a great sense of humor. She loved to travel and her children have many fond memories of summer RV vacations around the United States and Canada. “If the map showed a National Park near, we had to stop.” She loved working in her yard, but what she loved the most was sitting on the patio swing with her husband Bill, enjoying a cocktail.
Marilyn loved everyone like they were family. She was a mother to many and loved them as if they were her own children.
Her children wish to thank those special individuals who helped take superb care of her in the last year of her life; Michelle, Kia, and Vanessa of Exquisite Senior Services. We also wish to thank Big Bend Hospice for their excellent care of Marilyn in her final months.
She is survived by her Brother James (Mary) Erdy, her children Leila (Tony) Lehtonen, Renda (Marty) Driscoll and Angela Calhoun; as well as all the family and friends who dearly love her.
In Lieu of flowers, Marilyn requested donations be made to the Leader Dogs for the Blind and the Florida Lions Eye Bank.
