Marjorie Ann Lewis

November 7, 1932 – March 26, 2020
Obituary of Marjorie Ann Lewis
IN THE CARE OF

Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Marjorie Ann Lewis “Peggy” of Tallahassee, Florida entered heavens gates to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 87.

Peggy chose “joy” everyday! Her strong faith and devotion to God has carried her through her entire life. She has been a beacon of light and life for so many along the way.

Peggy was born November 7, 1932 in Hebron, Nebraska to the late Frank and Verna Groark. The family moved to Los Angeles, California when she was a child and Peggy attended Hollywood High and college in Los Angeles. She loved to travel. Hawaii was her first trip after graduation and she hasn’t stopped exploring the world since!

Peggy met her husband, Walt (1928-1978), of 23 years at Mobil Oil and it was a good thing she loved new adventures. During their marriage they were transferred from Los Angeles to Kansas City to New York City and to Dallas. She had a knack for adapting and getting involved quickly in the communities. As a mother of two girls, she was the quintessential volunteer and was involved in their children’s church choir, room mother, Brownie Girl Scout leader, fieldtrip mom, and a carpool queen. Bowling, bridge and golf were some of her favorite pastimes.

Attending and leading Bible Study Fellowship International was her biggest joy. When Peggy moved from Dallas to be near her newborn granddaughter in Orlando and then to Portland, Oregon and eventually Tallahassee, she always said she would move anywhere if it had BSF!

The final years of Peggy’s life became a fairytale when she met her wonderful Christ centered partner, Bob Lamkin. Bob has been her loving companion ever since they met at Allegro. God certainly blessed her when she met Bob. She fell in love when she heard his beautiful voice leading the hymns in the chapel. They traveled, cruised internationally and enjoyed everyday moments together. They chose joy together.

Peggy is predeceased by her husband, Walter Lewis. Peggy is survived by her loving companion, Bob Lamkin; daughters, Monica Cox (Charles) and Marcia Etheridge (Doug); sister, Francine Selman; and granddaughter, Olivia Etheridge.

A private Celebration of Life for family is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31st at St. Clements Chapel of Church of the Advent, 907 Shadowlawn Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32312.

The date of her Celebration of Life at Allegro Chapel with her friends and staff there is pending.
